Cupping Therapy

MASSAGE CUPPING is a modified version of traditional Chinese cupping therapy. It’s actually a therapy used throughout the world and has often been used in homes.

If you have seen the movie, Godfather II, there is a scene in which an infant is quite ill and the family administers cupping.

You may have seen cupping marks on Olympian Michael Phelps in our contemporary society, although those dark marks were most likely from a more traditional application.

It’s important to note that marks are not a bruise but rather flushing out of accumulated body fluids and toxins in the area when applied properly. Marks will typically dissipate within a few hours to a few days.

In Massage Cupping, the therapist uses cupping to loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue. The resulting increased blood flow nourishes tight muscles and skin. Just like a dried sponge is hard, so the muscles can also get hard when dehydrated. After a few minutes of Massage Cupping and already the muscles are softer allowing your therapist to work more deeply without you feeling pain from deeper bodywork.

Massage Cupping also helps the body eliminate toxins trapped in tight muscles and increases lymph flow. Unlike Chinese cupping therapy, Massage Cupping does not leave the cups in place for extended periods of time. You might still have some circular marks from the cups, but they diminish much more quickly than in traditional methods.

Massage Cupping calms the nervous system and oftentimes results from your session last longer. Therapists can also use magnetic cups to correct unbalanced electromagnetic energy in the body.

This therapy can be very effective in smoothing out scars and helping the roots of those scars to become less problematic. It might only be a few minutes in your total massage session; however, the results can be amazing.

CUPPING THERAPY can help with:

  • Eliminate toxins
  • Calms the nervous system
  • Increases lymph flow which promotes the immune system
  • Very effective in smoothing out scars
